Rest in Peace John Hughes

Filmmaker John Hughes died today, August 6, 2009, at age 59.

Hughes created some of the most influential movies in my life. He wrote, directed and produced Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Planes Trains & Automobiles, and Uncle Buck, as well as writing Home Alone.

Hughes lived the last 20 years of his life in mystery (a la J.D. Salinger). Retiring to an easy life in the midwest. He has been noted as a huge inspiration by filmmakers Wes Andersen and Kevin Smith.

Rest in Peace.

Hughes died of a heart attack in Manhattan during a morning walk, according to the Associated Press.

"What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal."
